Christmas 2015

I have been absolutely horrible at taking pictures lately! I'm lucky I got any of Christmas and even then they are pretty much all of Daxton. We have been traveling a lot. For Thanksgiving we went to South Carolina to visit Sam's brother and his wife. Unfortuatly we didnt take very many pictures of that trip either.
After Sam finished his semester we went to Colorado Springs and then to Utah. We got to spend time with both of our families and the time went way too fast. We loved seeing Daxton open his presents. His favorite by far being the sofa from Grandma and Grandpa and he knew just what to do with it. We took advantage of the snow and went snowboarding and sledding. I added a short clip of us sledding. This is the BEST way to go sledding in my opinion.
Oh, and my family has this little deer that is very friendly and goes around to everyone's house begging for food! It's the funniest thing. Daxton is afraid of dogs but he loved petting the deer!

Christmas 2014

We had a wonderful Christmas this year! There is so much fun added into every holiday now that we have Dax. Not that they weren't fun before, they are just different. We were able to spend almost two weeks at home enjoying time with both of our families! As this might be that last Christmas we get to be at home for a while I wanted as much time we could get and to enjoy it to the fullest.

We spent the actual holiday with Sam's family and the surrounding time with my family. Dax got lucky, Grandma and Grandpa Rich let him open his presents early! He got some awesome toys and blankets which his is already enjoying. Sam and I also got lucky and opened our presents early as well with my family! I loved being able to spend time with them and one of Christmas highlights was being able to video chat with my brother Jed who is on a mission.

We were able to spend time with Sam's whole family and enjoyed a Christmas that had been planned for two years! We played some great Christmas games and also all participated in different service projects. Christmas day was a blast and the festivities lasted all day which was something new for me as my family is usually up at the butt crack of dawn (or earlier) opening presents. Santa even came and payed us a little visit.

Having nieces and nephews is one of the best things! We love getting to spoil them! We made this little tent for them and it was so fun to see their excitement opening it!

Dax's first picture with Santa. He had just woken up so I'm sure he had no idea what was going on since he slept through pretty much everything.

You know its a good present when it's as big as you are!

Sam always has the best surprises for me on Christmas so this year I decided to do one for him. He had been wanting an xbox one so, I finally decided that I would surprise him with one. I was so anxious he would find out and I even wanted to tell him because I was so excited. He would ask what I got him and I would jokingly tell him I got him an xbox one in hopes of throwing him off in case he had guessed. Well it worked and he was very surprised! Now that I am a widow most nights I'm not sure what I was thinking :).

Thinking back on Christmas it wasn't the gifts (even though they were all awesome and it's fun to get them) it was the time spent with family and remembering Christ that was the best part. As you get older you realize family is so much more important. I'm most especially grateful for our Savior and the time we were able to reflect on him and what he did for each of us. It is my goal to be more Christlike to everyone I meet.

Christmas Treats

I hope everyone is enjoying some kind of treat with Christmas right around the corner! We have finally gotten around to making some. With the holidays being so busy it's hard to make time but homemade treats are my favorite. Sam LOVES chocolate covered pretzels so that is always on our list of things to make. We also made caramels, oreo truffles, and fudge. We found an oreo truffle recipe here . The fudge and caramel recipes I had from my mothers cooking class in 9th grade. They are super easy and I can't believe I don't make them more often.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

The day we got back from Thanksgiving in the Basin we started decorating for Christmas. It really is the most wonderful time of the year! I LOVE decorating for Christmas. One of my favorite things this year was going to Sun River Gardens. I loved looking at threw all of their Christmas things, from trees, garland, wreaths and beautiful poinsettias.

Our yearly tradition of going to see Temple Square we met by a very snowy day but it was absolutely beautiful! We stopped and ate in American Fork at the Melty Way, a gourmet grilled cheese place that is delicious! We shopped at City Creek, ate at Cheesecake Factory, and walked around Temple Square!

We had an awesome Christmas Party with our friends! It was so fun to plan and party!
